Did anyone else catch the 2012 Met Gala held in New York City tonight? I have to say, I was unimpressed with most of the attendees’ dresses. We had dominatrix style leather dresses (Rihanna), way too sheer dresses (Beyonce ), and completely mismatched outfits (Kristen Stewart). For the money these women pay their stylists, they should at least have something that won’t get them noticed at all rather than on the worst dressed list. See them all here. Personally I’d rather focus on the ladies who did impress with their dress choices. Below are some of my favorites!
Heads up: This is replacing the blogger fashion post for this week.
Coachella was last weekend and for some reason it’s like the Oscars of music festivals. Instead of wearing gowns, celebrities are out and about pretending they are normal people wearing some of the most interesting things. What this really means is everyone attempts to looks grungy and hippy-ish and IMO makes for some pretty gnarly outfits (and not in a good way). There is a great way to dress for a concert and then there is clothing vomit where one attempts to wear ragged denim, fringe vests, and a vintage concert tee of a concert you never attended. So without further adieu, here are the best (worst) outfits of Coachella 2012.
I love checking out new shows especially those featuring fashion. I was especially excited for the new show Fashion Star featuring Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, and John Varvatos helping designers sell their clothing to H & M, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy’s. I was, however, a little disappointed with the first episode.
I thought it was a little all over the place with both the mentors and the buyers commenting and having two designers going at once. I like Project Runway much better where they do one model for each designer and it lasts longer like a real fashion show. It seemed disjointed in how they broke the show up. I also wish the buyers commented more on the pieces. I would love to be a buyer for a fashion store and want to know more information about what they’re looking for. In terms of the pieces, three statement pieces seemed a little too much; a lot of the items were repetitive, only changing the color of the item.
HOWEVER, I have changed my mind slightly. I like the show. I liked seeing the clothes, but so far I haven’t jumped to any anything except for Orly’s designs. I am disappointing though they completely changed her design this week.
It went from this:
You can’t see it in the picture, but the pockets and slit in the back of the first dress featured on the show is accented by the bright pink. I LOVE that feature because it sets this dress apart. I also like the silhouette in the first picture better. Overall the first dress looks high class, evening cocktail and expensive. The second dress looks blah blah and blah. Saks Fifth Avenue purchased it and totally messed it up IMO. And they are charging $295.
I’ll probably keep watching only because I want to see what’s next.
It feels like every weekend has been an awards show. Sadly the Oscars is the last for a long time. Luckily people brought their A-Game to the biggest award event of the year. There is no ‘worst dressed list’ only those who stood out. And there are a lot of them!
Here are a few of my favorites from the Oscars 2012. It was almost too hard to choose!
I almost didn’t recognize Kristin Wiig at the Oscars this year because of her hair. I love the funky layers and gorgeous corset top.
Tina Fey wasn’t the only one rocking the peplum trend. I love it! It’s a unique silhouette with a simple color.
I don’t think the dress photographs as well as it looked on screen. On the tv is looked amazing!
Melissa McCarthy is stunning in this dusty pink gown.
I love the bright red lipstick contrasted to the shiny white off the shoulder gown.
This is stunning! Love the color, sparkles, and fit!
I can’t help but stare at Kelly Ripa’s biceps. She looks amazing period.
Cameron Diaz had the most amazing body, she could wear almost anything.
I LOVE this dress! It is vintage, circa 1945. Red, polka dots, fiery but sweet.
Until next award show,

You can’t really go wrong with a LBD with the right amount of leg and cleavage. Rihanna looks sophisticated and sexy.
Taylor Swift’s dress reminds me an Oscar statue. A beautiful pattern with a beautiful color.
A photo of Adele’s dress does not do as much justice as seeing it in video or I’m sure in person. It glitters and shines just like her voice.
I love long sleeve dresses and I think it is always super classy for an awards show. This dress is also beautiful in the back as well because it is cut out. Carrie Underwood hardly ever misses the mark.
Kate Beckinsale’s dress isn’t too serious. It’s fun like the Grammy’s should be.
Glassy, elegant, and shows off her beautiful body. End of story.
I love the color! I just wish Katy Perry’s hair didn’t match her dress.
Nicki Minaj also showed up with a person dressed at the Pope. I don’t get it.
It’s not the 80s anymore Cyndi Lauper, and you’re not in your 20s.
Love the color, but she could lose the black granny panties. If it was lined and you could just see the tangerine color it would have been perfect.
I think Robyn is confused. Nothing about this outfit works.
Ahh Snooki! You are not on the Jersey Shore and nobody wants to see your hoo-ha. Surprise people and dress up a little.
Lady Gaga should just focus on her singing. BUT maybe we wouldn’t care about her as much.
