Fashion’s Night Out San Francisco 2012

On Setpember 6, clothing stores all over the country will be participating in Fashion’s Night Out.  I have never participated in any of the events, but this year I plan on partaking in the activities!  The idea behind Fashion’s Night Out is to “celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy during the recession, and put the fun back in shopping.”  It began in 2009 and has grown worldwide ever since.

Blogger fashion: Chambray shirts

I love this!  Its the same chambray long shirt worn two ways.  Throw a belt on the chambray tunic and you have a dress!  Chambray works pretty good on anyone!

Kendi from Kendi Everyday

Chamray is the perfect laying material.  I love how Kendi wore her chambray button up shirt under the polka dot sweater.  It works perfectly with the pink pants and this outfit would not have looked as good without the chambray shirt underneath.

Chambray pretty much goes with everything.  I love how this blogger pairs leather sandals, a dainty skirt, and a chambray shirt together with a metal belt.  All different kinds of style paired together for one awesome look!

This blogger did so many things I like!  I love pairing bright pants with a lace-type shirt, the shiny purse, and she uses the chambray as a jacket! It’s a great spring outfit!

We’ve seen chambray used as an undershirt, jacket, dress, and regular shirt paired with almost anything.  How do you like to wear chambray?

Coachella Fashion

Heads up: This is replacing the blogger fashion post for this week.

Coachella was last weekend and for some reason it’s like the Oscars of music festivals.  Instead of wearing gowns, celebrities are out and about pretending they are normal people wearing some of the most interesting things.  What this really means is everyone attempts to looks grungy and hippy-ish and IMO makes for some pretty gnarly outfits (and not in a good way).  There is a great way to dress for a concert and then there is clothing vomit where one attempts to wear ragged denim, fringe vests, and a vintage concert tee of a concert you never attended.  So without further adieu, here are the best (worst) outfits of Coachella 2012.

Blogger Fashion: Brightly Colored Blazers

You remember back to my little post about bright blazers?  Since it is Wednesday, here are a few of my favorite looks by other bloggers wearing bright blazers!  It being 75 degrees today I also wore a fantastic bright pink blazer I found at Forever21 and some shoes to match!  Head over to Chictopia to check me out!

These outfits definitely take some courage to rock.  I love the little pops of color added to the bright blazers.  It makes me excited for spring/summer!

From Superficial Girls

I love the coordination with the belt and the shoes!   A fantastic way to brighten up a little polka dot dress!  This definitely gave me a few ideas!

From Chictopia

I love the idea of color blocking and wearing two completely opposite colors, but I can’t really seem to pull it off.  This blogger did though!  I love the striped shirt, bright pink blazer, and teal shoes.    It’s a stellar combination.

From Chictopia

Ah!  I love these bright colors all together with the animal print heels!  I never would have thought to pair a carrot orange shirt with a coral blazer!  This is a knock out outfit!  Another fantastic way to put a little animal print into your wardrobe.

Blogger from District of Chic

If you are looking to update your work wardrobe, look no further than this blogger.  I love how she pairs a classic beige dress with simple print heels and purse and then adds a pop of color with the orange poppy blazer.  Everything fits perfectly together.  What you get is a polished, fashion forward, and chic look.

Blogger Fashion: Hi Low Dress

I posted about hi low dresses yesterday. Here are a few looks from my favorite bloggers.

Blogger from Somewhere on Earth

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the color of this dress.

From Fashion Hippie Loves

This dress is beautiful!  I love the shine.  It can easily be dressed up or dressed down.

I love the color of this dress as well and I especially love the leather booties and checkered belt.

Blogger from A Fashion Love Affair

Another really fantastic hi low dress.  I wish the picture was lighter so you could see how gorgeous this dress is.  The perfect bohemian look.

I love the white dress combined with the bright turquoise necklace.  Beautiful and airy for a hot summer day.

Christian Dior Couture Spring 2012

The days of Mad Men fashion are not over my friends.  Like my post featured on Pan Am fashion, 50’s fashion is sooo in style.  Just check out Christian Dior’s Spring 2012 fashion show looks.  I love the emphasis on small waists and poofy skirts.  Any figure can wear these clothes and look amazing wearing them.  They show off a woman’s figure and hide her flaws so you can focus on what you really need to.

These looks are so glamorous yet not so over the top you don’t notice the girl wearing the clothes.  I love the dramatic patterns, figure flattering shapes, and the beautiful flow of the dresses.  Christian Dior is so timeless yet modern.

Mirror, Mirror Fashion

I love movies with beautiful cinematography and costumes.  That’s partially why I cannot wait to see Mirror, Mirror, a unique take on Snow White with a fabulous cast and both qualities mentioned above.  Here are just a few shots of the fantastical costumes you will see in the movie.  Scroll down to the bottom for the trailer.

Lauren Conrad Style

Lauren Conrad is one of the best fashionistas in Hollywood.  Her style combines the hottest trends with her bohemian California girl style.  She has made a tangible impact in the fashion world with her side braid and bright lips.  Here are a few of my favorite looks from Lauren Conrad.

THE MAKEUP:

Lauren always looks like she spent the day on the beach.  Sun-kissed cheeks, bronze eye shadow, and glossy pink lips.  Her signature look is thick winged eye liner.  Her stylist, Amy Nadine has a blog and always posts about how to achieve Lauren Conrad’s perfect makeup.   One tip to get a flawless sun-kissed look is to use a liquid foundation one shade darker than your current shade.  Make sure to blend well and cover your neck so your face doesn’t look darker than the rest of your body. I also love the bold lips.  One way to figure out what color red will look good on your lips, look at your veins.  If they are blue/greenish than you are cool so look for pinks.  If they are more yellow than look for orange tones in your lipstick.

THE HAIR:

Lauren Conrad popularized the side braid.  It’s easy to do and makes a simple look automatically chic.  You can leave your hair straight and pin the braid back or give yourself beachy waves.  Lauren also does the high big bun on top of her head for more formal events.  She also tends to do low chignons with a few hairs left out.  It looks effortless yet polished.  Her last signature look is beachy blond waves.  Whether she is a bright blond or a more ombre winter look, she has beautiful shiny hair.

THE FASHION:

Lauren Conrad’s fashion is trendy, casual, and coordinated.  She never leaves a detail out whether it’s her jewelry, nails, or other accessories.  She keeps her accessories simple and focuses on the clothes.  It’s no surprise she dresses well when interned at Vogue.  Her style features lots of mini skirts and mini dresses to show off her toned legs, blazers which polishes off the look, and sweet blouses that emphasizes her girl next door charm.

How to Tie a Scarf

One of my favorite accessories for Fall and Winter is the scarf.  I love them for fun colors and pattern and for warmth.  Some women collect shoes, I collect scarves.  I am always looking for new styles and ways to tie them.  So here are a few ways:
