Blurring the Gender Line

In a recent issue of Dossier Journal, the  cover of an ambiguous body made quite a statement.  Is the picture below a man made to look like a woman or a woman with small breasts?  What makes it controversial isn’t that this image blurs the line between sexes, but more so that Barnes and Noble and Borders covered the magazine cover just as they would do with an issue of Playboy.

For the record, the image below is actually a man.  Men pose shirtless on magazine covers all the time, so why is this one a big deal?  We seem to have an obsession with breasts and women’s bodies more so then men.  For a fantastic post about this issue, check out The Society Pages.
