Fair Isle Sweaters

The Fair Isle Sweater is something I have only learned of recently. For those of you who don’t know exactly what this is either, fair isle sweaters use multiple colors to create patterns across sweaters. From the Wikipedia article, “Traditional Fair Isle patterns have a limited palette of five or so colours, use only two colours per row, are worked in the round, and limit the length of a run of any particular colour.” It’s a pretty simple concept that can create beautiful sweaters. The term Fair Isle comes from an island north of Scotland called Fair Isle that makes up the Shetland islands where this technique originated.
