Dress for Success
Some people seem to think clothes don’t mean anything. Those people tend to wear sweats to the mall and blazers with shoulder pads to work. Clothes are in fact very important. They show off our personalities, symbolize we take care of ourselves, and can make you seem more attractive and thin. This is especially important when it comes to work. I know there are some of us who would like to ignore it, but people do pay attention to how you dress at work. I am working on a full on ‘make yourself look better at work’ post, but what I wanted to focus on today was a really great group who ” promote[s] the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” One of my previous posts was about not seeing enough women in high level positions. Well this organization is helping us ladies to get there! The name of the organization is Dress For Success. Dress for Success doesn’t just provide work attire, but they work in getting women into jobs and keeping them there. “Each year [they] reach more than 50,000 women in the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, Mexico, Poland and the West Indies”. Dress for Success knows that dressing well can play a vital role in getting someone a job and looking professional is important to maintaining a professional demeanor throughout work.
